Understand your backup choices

Lexi is built around a single idea: your crypto should answer to you and no one else.

  • Keys live on your deviceSigning keys are protected on your phone. Choosing account backup uploads the selected wallet secret for encrypted server storage and account recovery.
  • Locked behind biometricsFace ID or your fingerprint guards access every time, so your wallet stays yours even if your phone doesn't.
  • You stay in controlAccount backups use service-managed encryption, not end-to-end encryption. Lexi can decrypt saved backups; protect your account and email, and keep an independent written backup.
  • Recovery only with your consentLegacy contact plans send warnings and contact notices only. They do not automatically deliver wallet keys or transfer assets.

Questions, answered

Is Lexi custodial or non-custodial?
Lexi signs transactions on your device. If you enable account backups, Lexi stores encrypted wallet secrets and controls the server decryption key. That backup feature is service-managed, not end-to-end encrypted.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your wallet is tied to your recovery phrase. If you've saved it (or turned on encrypted backup), you can restore your wallets on a new device. Without either, your funds cannot be recovered.
Can Lexi see or recover my private keys?
Wallets without an account backup keep their signing secrets on the device. If you save an account backup, Lexi receives the secret over HTTPS and can decrypt the saved backup to restore it after a fresh sign-in. See the privacy policy for account and earlier test-build recovery backups.
Which networks and coins are supported?
Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Solana and Bitcoin (native SegWit). Supported tokens can be added by contract or mint address. Lightning and Solana Token-2022 are not enabled in this release.
Is there a fee to use Lexi?
Network transaction fees apply. Swaps may also include provider fees, which are shown in the quote before you approve.
How do swaps work?
Supported tokens can be swapped within one network through LI.FI routes. Quotes show provider and network fees before approval. Bitcoin swaps are not supported.
Is it safe to connect to dApps?
Lexi's built-in browser lets you connect to Ethereum and EVM web3 apps. You approve each connection and every transaction — only connect to apps you trust, and always review what you're signing.
How does inheritance / legacy recovery work?
Nominate a contact and choose an inactivity period. Lexi sends daily warnings during the grace period, then a notice to an accepted contact. It does not automatically send wallet keys or transfer assets.
What currencies can I see my balance in?
USD, Naira (NGN), Euro (EUR) and Pound (GBP).
Is Lexi available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Lexi is on Android, and on iPhone currently through TestFlight.
Does Lexi charge for sending crypto?
No. Lexi doesn't add a fee to send transactions. You only pay the standard network (gas) fee, which goes to the network, not to Lexi.
What is the encrypted backup, and do I have to use it?
It's an optional feature that lets you restore your wallets after signing back into your Lexi account. It's opt-in — you decide whether to turn it on.
